Compatibility List

Over the past few months a number of customers have installed extra hardware and software bought from 3rd party sources, and then found that the new kit has not been directly compatible with the Eurolink software.

To avoid un-necessary problems, if you are thinking of upgrading your PC, network, or software, PLEASE call us to ensure that the new equipment is going to work satisfactorily.  We do have our own installation engineers who understand the Eurolink software and the types of problems caused by upgrading your hardware and software.

If your new equipment or software is found to be incompatible, or needs configuring in a particular way, we reserve the right to charge for calls made to the Support Desk, or if an engineer needs to be sent to you.

The following list contains known "gotchas", but this is by no means exhaustive, so please call us for confirmation:

Hardware

The Eurolink software only works on Windows-based PC's.
The Eurolink software is not compatible with Apple Mac machines.
When choosing a new PC, go for the fastest processor, most memory available, to improve performance.

Printers

We only recommend printers that contain HP PCL5 or PCL6  emulation drivers.

Most new printers are only designed to work with 32-bit software.  Specifically, we have had problems with Hewlett Packard USB printers not being recognised by 16-bit version of Eurolink, or giving Windows errors when used with 16-bit Eurolink.

The solution to this problem is to change to a printer that does cater for 16-bit applications, or upgrade your Eurolink to the 32-bit version.

Please contact us BEFORE purchasing a new printer.

Network Cabling

We recommend using a 100Mbit/s, CAT 5 cabling system (or faster).

Wireless Networks (WLANS)

Wireless networks will work with the Eurolink software.  HOWEVER, by their very nature they are not fast - running at a maximum of 54Mbits/s.  In tests, if a WLAN is not installed in ideal conditions (ie direct line of sight from access point to the workstation), this speed can drop to less than 5Mbit/s.  Please note these conditions are not ideal for running a 'network demanding' application like Eurolink Management.

Network

We recommend using Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 as the network server operating system.
The network should be running the TCP/IP protocol.

The NETWARE operating system is not supported.

VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Eurolink does NOT function over a VPN, unless used in conjunction with a Eurolink Enterprise Server (EES).

Internet Connection

A broadband (ADSL) connection is a requirement of the Eurolink Software Suite.

Windows

Compatible with:

Windows 2000 Professional
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2003 Server
Windows XP (Home and Professional Versions)
Windows Vista (All versions)

Compatible with:

Windows CE and Pocket PC (via Eurolink Enterprise System Only)

Not compatible with:

Windows 95, 98, or ME.
Windows NT4 Server, or Windows NT4 Workstation.

Screen Display Resolution

Screen Display should be set to a MINIMUM of 1024x768, 256 colors

Photographs

There are so many types of scanner and digital camera, that we cannot test them all.  Therefore, in order to link photos into the Eurolink software, we make use of the Windows Paint accessory provided with Windows.

Photographs should be saved as a MAXIMUM resolution of 800x600 pixels, in JPG format. Higher resolutions may cause problems.

To ensure that your version of Windows recognises JPG files, click: START : PROGRAMS : ACCESSORIES : PAINT.  Go to FILE : OPEN and ensure you can set a file type of JPEG File Interchange Format.  If you can't, you will need to save your photos as BMP format.  However, BMP files are enormous compared with JPG - so we recommend upgrading your version of Windows.

E-Mail Support

The Eurolink Software Suite has inbuilt e-mail sending features.  It does not need to directly link to Outlook, Outlook Express, or any other e-mail software for the automatic sending of e-mail.

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

Office 2003 is compatible.

Office XP is compatible.  Click here for details.

Office 2000 is compatible.

Mail Merge Letters

In order to use the Eurolink Mail Merge facility, you must have the "Visual FoxPro Tables" ODBC driver installed.  Click: START : SETTINGS : CONTROL PANEL : ODBC Data Sources (32-bit).  Visual FoxPro should be listed either in the main list, or when you click "Add".  If not, download the drivers from our documents page , or click here.

Direct Support

In order for us to provide direct support you will need a broadband internet connection together with "PCAnywhere" software.  PCAnywhere is not required for any EES (Eurolink Enterprise System).

Internet Property Web Sites

Eurolink software is currently only directly compatible with the following Internet web-sites:

Homes On-Line
Property Finder
Primelocation

Please note that Homes On-Line can also list your properties on:

Fish 4 Homes
Assertahome
Right Move
Primelocation

Eurolink can upload details to other Property portal sites, or your own website, using the '
Eurolink upload specification'.   This is freely available and can be passed on to these other companies so they can tailor their software to accept the Eurolink property information.

"EuroDocs" Document Management

The Document Management facility contained within Eurolink stores documents in the PDF format.  In order to open, read, and print PDF documents, the free Acrobat Reader software is required by every operator.

Security Backups

It is your responsibility to ensure that your tape backup facility is configured to backup the Eurolink Folder (OMAN).  Backup tapes should be taken off-site each evening.  The internal Eurolink "End-of-Day" Backup is NOT a "Security Backup".

Upgrading from 16-bit to 32-bit Eurolink

When upgrading to the new 32-bit Eurolink, please note the following:

Any photographs in Marketing Details, or documents in EuroDocs, which exist as files with long filenames are shown in 16-bit Eurolink as ending in ~1, or ~2, etc.  When upgrading to 32-bit Eurolink these documents will NOT be compatible and will need to be convert to their "Long" filename.  A routine can be run from Command Mode to do this.

Eurolink Automation and 32-bit Eurolink

"Automation" will start to replace some features within Eurolink (eg automatic letters, e-mailing, and some reports).  Please note that the automation software will only run on Windows 2000 or above.
